Enrique Gil Calvo (b. 1946) is Professor of Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid and a specialist in political sociology. He writes a column in El País and is the author of over 25 books. His work has been awarded several literary prizes. The latest is the Jovellanos International Prize in 2006 for his essay La ideología española ("The Spanish Ideology").
