Between April and August 2012, hackers broke into police driving licence databases and downloaded thousands of files containing social security numbers, staff emails and information on people wanted in the Schengen area.
The security breach was revealed by Danish police on June 6. The files, explains Berlingske, were stored by the Danish computer services company CSC. The police have arrested a 20-year-old Dane and asked Sweden to extradite Gottfried Svartholm Warg, a 28-year-old Swede, who is co-founder of the illegal download site The Pirate Bay and possible mastermind behind the attacks.
