Moisés Naim (b. 1952), a writer and columnist of Venezuelan origin, was editor-in-chief of the US monthly [Foreign Policy](http://www.foreignpolicy.com/) from 1996 to 2010. He writes a weekly column on international affairs in the Spanish daily El País and contributes regularly to the Financial Times, The New York Times, Il Corriere della Sera, Le Monde, Die Berliner Zeitung and other periodicals of global reach. He has written several books, includingIllicit: How Smugglers, Traffickers and Copycats are Hijacking the Global Economy, which have already been translated into 14 languages.
