End of year festivities will take place against a backdrop of austerity.
According to a survey conducted by Deloitte, Europeans will spend an average of 0.8% less on their Christmas purchases than they did last year. The Greeks will spend 16.2% less than they did in 2011, while, at the other end of the spectrum, the Poles will spend 11.5% more.
