On 18 December the new Austrian government, led by Conservative leader Sebastian Kurz, took office. At 31, Kurz is the youngest head of government in the world and leads a coalition formed by his ÖVP party along with the far-right Freedom party (FPÖ), who runs the Home, Foreign and Defense ministries. The FPÖs accession to power was met with protests in Vienna.
