Slavenka Drakulić is a Croatian writer, essayist and journalist born in 1949. She is the author of numerous books, which have been translated into around fifteen languages.
She has worked with a host of new organisations including The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Dagens Nyheter, the Guardian, as well as online magazines such as Eurozine.com. Her new book, Café Europa Revisited. How to Survive Post-Communism, is due to be published by Penguin in spring 2021. She divides her time between Sweden and Croatia.
