On April 18, the Bundestag approved the bailout plan for Cyprus by a large majority (486 for, 103 against, 11 abstentions), just as it approved previous bailouts for Greece, Portugal and Spain.
The European Stability Mechanism would provide as much as €9bn of the €10bn to be provided to Cyprus to stop the economic crisis from further spreading across the eurozone.
