The 19th UN Conference on Climate Change opened on November 11 in Warsaw seeking to lay the foundations for a much-anticipated agreement 2015 on limiting greenhouse gases.
The international community has set a goal of limiting global warming to 2 degrees celcius compared to pre-industrial era. If nothing is done, temperatures could rise by nearly 5 degrees celcius by the end of the century, according to a statement released in late September by the Intergovernmental panel of experts on climate change (IPCC).
