More than 280 people, among which two 80-years old protesters, have been arrested in the British capital on the first day of a two week-long shutdown of central London organised by Extinction Rebellion in protest against the lack of action to tackle the climate crisis.

Climate and ecological justice activists from Extinction Rebellion are taking part in protests in cities around the world, including Sydney, Amsterdam, Berlin and New York.
