This weekend the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the EU, in the midst of its deepest economic crisis yet, due to "its advancements in peace and reconciliation, democracy and human right in Europe". Today, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics to Americans Alvin Roth and Lloyd Shapley for their work on how best to provide supply and demand in a market, with applications for organ transplants and education.
