On 15 December, Denmark filed an application to the UN Commission on the limits of the Continental Shelf claiming its sovereignty on 895,000 square kilometers of allegedly raw materials-rich Arctic seabed close to Greenland, which is part of the Danish crown. Russia and Canada have already made claims to the same area.
