Despite the EU's top priority being tackling youth unemployment, which reached 23.5 per cent in April, it is failing to make much progress against this consequence of the ongoing global economic crisis, says Delo, adding –
The European Commission on June 19 called for the early implementation of employment projects. Also, the EU budget for the period 2014-2020 ringfenced for tackling youth employment, is around €6bn.
Meanwhile, the Slovenian government is expected to propose a new law on June 20 to combat youth unemployment, providing subsidies for employers hiring people aged under 30 for a minimum of two years.
