Roger Scruton (1944-2020) was a British philosopher, writer, and composer. Along with having penned several novels and two operas, he was the author of a number of books on philosophy, aesthetics, and animal rights, and most recently A Political Philosophy: Arguments For Conservatism (2006). In 1982, he became the first editor of The Salisbury Review, a magazine that seeks to defend traditional conservative values.
