On boat - Financial transactions tax

Facing resistance to a tax on financial transactions both from within her ruling coalition and from her EU partners - particularly the UK and Sweden - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble are proposing a watered down "stock market tax". The European Commission, however, doubt its effectiveness.
