The EU no longer stands for "roaming abolition" but for "incentives to its disappearance," reports La Vanguardia, according to the details of a plan European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes will unveil to national governments and the European Parliament on September 11.
According to the Catalan daily, it is hoped that the plan can be implemented by 2014 as much progress has already been made on the issue. The European Commision has been willing to tackle the matter since 2007 and prices cuts were agreed in 2012.
Already European Union members Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands have outlined a plan to end telecoms roaming charges, which may be in place by the autumn.
