On 21 September an “angry 40,000” took to the streets of Prague,headlines Lidové noviny, forming one of the biggest organised demonstrations since the collapse of Communism in 1989. The civil servants were protesting a 10% pay cut in the new government’s austerity plan. While the organisers commend themselves for putting together a “French-style” demonstration, Mladá Fronta DNES condemns the “uniformed hooligans” who stormed the interior ministry.
