Scheduled to conclude by 11 December the discussions taking place at the UN international summit on climate change (COP21) have been extended by 24 hours, because the parties had not yet agreed on a final version of the text, which must be adopte consensually.

Led by the French presidency, the marathon negotiations are still faltering over the questions of average temperature rise – certain countries risk being submerged if it breaches 1.5 °C by the end of the century – compensation demanded by developing countries to reduce their emissions without compromising their growth, and the way of calculating emissions.
