According to preliminary results of the presidential and legislative elections of 12 October, Bakir Izetbegović (Party of Democratic Action), Željka Cvijanović (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats) and Dragan Čović (Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina) have won the three-part rotating presidency between Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats within their respective communities, reports Nezavisne novine.
The daily adds the participation rate was 52.73 per cent in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 56.94 per cent in the Republika Srpska. Final results of the presidential and legislative votes will be known early in the week.
The elections follow four years of instability, political impasse and a wave of protests at the beginning of the year against corruption, unemployment and poverty.
