Socialist Prime Minister Ivica Dačić has embarked on a cabinet reshuffle with the aim of accelerating accession to the EU, modernising Serbia's economic development, and fighting corruption and unemployment.
With the agreement of his coalition partner, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić of the Progressive Party, Dačić has split the Finance and Economy department into two portfolios. In response to a demand from Vučić, Danas explains that Finance will be handled by Lazar Krstić, a 29-year-old mathematician and economist who trained at Yale.
Several other cabinet appointments, including who will be the new minister for economy, “will not be known until later this week,” notes the daily.
