As of today, around 20% of Ukraine is under Russian occupation. What is going on in these regions under Moscow's control? And how do we know?

Oleksandra Romantsova runs the Center for Civil Liberties in Ukraine, where she has worked since 2014. Co-laureate of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, this Ukrainian NGO was founded in Kyiv in 2007. It has been documenting the war crimes since Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion.

One of CCL’s projects, led by Oleksandra Matviichuk, is to collect testimonies from those living in the parts of Ukraine controlled by Moscow since the Crimea annexation of 2014. According to CCL's data, more than 7,500 people have died and more than 3,000 are missing.

We discussed these subjects with Oleksandra Romantsova at an exceptional Live event, moderated by Catherine André and Gian-Paolo Accardo.
