Zaal Andronikashvili

Zaal Andronikashvili (b. 1973) is Professor of Cultural Studies at Ilia State University in Tbilisi and a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Center for Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL) in Berlin. A literary scholar and cultural historian, he works on empire, modernity and the cultural histories of the Soviet and post-Soviet worlds, with a particular focus on Georgia and the South Caucasus. His research rethinks European and global cultural history from the perspective of regions conventionally treated as peripheral, asking how imperial and national frameworks shape literary and cultural fomations. He has published widely in German, English, and Georgian.
