"Gândul 4 May 2005 – 8 April 2011", writes Cristian Tudor Popescu, editorialist and co-founder of Gândul, signalling the end of the Bucharest-based daily’s print edition. Starting 9 April, Gândul will publish web and iPad editions exclusively, following the trend initiated by partner publication Cotidianul in 2010 in response to an overall drop in sales in print media in Romania. Gândul staffing has not been affected by the switch and the daily will continue publication of its English-, German- and Hungarian-language editions. “The world saw relentless change last year (…) Gândul was vulnerable. Its print edition is a part of history. The paper’s soul is now in its pixels”, Tudor Popescu adds.
