"Full speed ahead for Opel engines," enthuses Budapest's Népszabadság. The General Motors subsidiary has announced that it plans to invest 500 million euros to expand and double capacity at its engine production plant in Szentgotthárd. At a time when its factory in Antwerp (Belgium) is about to be closed down, this latest initiative will enable Opel to create 800 jobs in the near future, and as many as 2,500 in the long term, explains the daily. The Hungarian state has pledged to provide a grant of 27 million euros on condition that plant remains in Hungary for at least 20 years.
