The perspective of Turkey's accession to the EU is moving further away, after autocratic president Recep Tayip Erdoğan was re-elected on the 24 June. Erdoğan, who is also the head of the ruling AKP party, with 52 percent of votes.
The condition in which the vote took place were criticised both by the EU and the OSCE, because of the limitations of liberties and the obstacles to the expression of the other candidates.
