Tension between Athens and Berlin on Greece's bailout terms soured further as a German television showed a video of Greece's Finance minister Yanis Varoufakis purportedly raising his middle finger to Germany in a 2013 speech. Varoufakis said the video is a fake and that he "never gave the finger".
Meanwhile, Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras is set to travel to Berlin next week "for clear-the-air talks with German counterpart Angela Merkel in a fresh attempt to end the impasse on Greece’s bailout", reports EUobserver.
Update : German satirist Jan Böhmermann said on 18 March he forged the Varoufakis video.
