“The British people and The Sun today issue this red line demand to David Cameron: Win back our power to halt immigration from the EU,” announces Britain’s best selling newspaper.

Prime Minister Cameron must take advantage of the December 19-20 European Council meeting “to stop the flood,” insists the tabloid, which warns that if he fails to comply with this demand, “there is every chance” that the British will vote for a Brexit at a promised referendum on UK membership of the EU in 2017.

In response to concern about the opening of the British labour market to Romanians and Bulgarians on January 1, Prime Minister Cameron’s government has rushed through measures to prevent migrants from claiming out-of-work benefits until they have been in the UK for a least three months.
