Remaking capitalism is on the agenda at the World Economic Forum that opened on 27 January in Davos with a speech by French president, Nicolas Sarkozy. French daily Libération headlines that "Sarkozy fails to capitalise" : his call for the need to "moralise capitalism" didn't go down very well with business leaders and heads of state attending the Forum.

For the 37th Angoulême International Comics Festival in France's southwest, Libération is offering an edition that is completely ilustrated by cartoon satirists or comic-strip artists. American Robert Crumb occupies pride of place on the front page. Held from 28 to 31 January, the Angoulême Festival is the world's biggest event devoted to the comic-strip.
