According to a survey by the European Central Bank, the average capital of a German household including the value of owned property was €51,400 euros in 2010, which is lower than the average household capital in other European countries.
According to the ranking, whose methodology has been contested, the richest households in Europe are in Luxembourg (€397,800), ahead of Cyprus (€266,900), Malta (€215,900), Spain (€182,700 euros) and Italy (€173,500).
