“The North Bohemia regional ‘boss’ Alexandr Novák was arrested yesterday after he avoided a prison term [for corruption]. The very same day police brought criminal charges against Roman Janoušek [for attempted murder following a car accident], and the court decided not to release [corrupt politician] David Rath from custody,” writes the daily.

Ex-senator Novák, sentenced to four years for corruption in 2010, was preparing to escape to the US, while Janoušek, a lobbyist known as the “Godfather of Prague business” will be prosecuted over a car accident that left a female motorist critically injured.

Rath, an incumbent Socialist MP, was arrested carrying a box filled with cash, which prosecutors claim was a bribe he received in exchange for allocating construction contracts.
