Born in 1952, Italian journalist Guido Rampoldi is a senior reporter for [La Repubblica](http://www.presseurop.eu/fr/content/source-information/678-la-repubblica), and a specialist writer on the Middle East and Islam. His books include L’innocenza del male. Dalla guerra fredda all’Iraq (Laterza, 2003) and A chi appartiene oggi il potere (Mondadori, 2006). In 2007, he won the Barzini award for outstanding foreign correspondents.
