“Mr Rajoy and the new Italian prime minister push for a European pact to promote growth,” writes the Catalan daily.

The new Italian PM, Enrico Letta, is today visiting Madrid as part of his European tour, after trips to Berlin, Paris and Brussels, in an effort to forge a strong front against Europe’s policy of austerity.

The visit comes ahead of Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy's Wednesday speech to the national parliament when he will outline the country’s new cost-cutting measures.
