The British defence secretary, Philip Hammond, has announced a planto axe seventeen units from the British army. The plan forms part of a series of budget cuts that will reduce the army's overall strength by 20,000 out of a total of over 100,000 full-time regulars. The cartoon alludes to the famous photograph of British troops marching into Port Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands, during the war with Argentina in 1982.
