On 12 December the One Planet Summit, was held in Paris. Two years after the 2015 Climate Conference, and after the US under Donald Trump left the Paris agreement on reducing CO2 emissions, French president Emmanuel Macron invited world leaders and UN heads to "demonstrate the power of collective action" and to "find new means of financing the adaptation of our ways of life to inevitable transformations, of further speeding up the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions". The summit was also aimed to promote green projects and provide new funding sources, gathering some 2000 participants including non-governmental organisations, foundations, banks, start-ups, local governments and city mayors.
