Most recent immigration to the Flanders region of Belgium comes from the Netherlands followed by Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, according to figures released by Flanders Region Integration Minister, Geert Bourgeois (N-VA). This is a shift from previous trends which recorded significant immigration from Turkey or Morocco. As "integration lessons" are not obligatory for citizens of the European Union, less and less immigrants are taking the classes, the Belgian daily notes. The minister regrets the decline because he believes that without a knowledge of Dutch, it is almost impossible to find work.
