Slovenia was granted two additional years to reduce its deficit, the European Commission announced on May 29, but in exchange the government must pursue required reforms, notes Slovenian daily Večer.
"For pensioners, another austerity cycle, as dictated by Brussels, has begun," the paper explains, saying that pensions could be frozen and a pensioners' annual bonus abolished.
Furthermore, reports Večer, the parliament is expected to rapidly adopt a plan to privatise 15 firms in order to bring some cash into the State's coffers.
