On November 27, Francophone Socialist Elio Di Rupo secured the agreement of six political parties on Belgium's 2012 budget. He is now to enter No. 16, rue de la Loi, the residence of Belgian prime ministers. The country's credit downgrade at the hands of Standard & Poor's on November 25 is said to have speeded up the budget discussions.
