On April 30, the Cypriot parliament is expected to approve by a narrow majority the memorandum signed with the EU-ECB-IMF troika of international creditors and the corresponding agreement for €10bn which will “pave the way for the transfer of [financial] aid” in the coming days.
Only the Democratic Rally led by Nicos Anastasiades, the Democratic Party and the European Party, which control 29 to 30 of the 56 seats in parliament, are expected to vote in favour of the text.
Now that the Communist Party-supported possibility of an exit from the eurozone has been set aside, the troika agreement “is the only remaining option for Cyprus,” notes the daily.
