The latest revelations from former US National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden indicate a massive espionage campaign masterminded by Washington against its European allies, starting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande.
During the October 24-25 European Council meeting, EU leaders issued a joint statement on the issue of spying, highlighting that "France and Germany [will] seek bilateral talks with the USA with the aim of finding before the end of the year an understanding on mutual relations in that field."
