Niall Ferguson (b. 1964) is a British historian. He teaches at Harvard, Stanford and Oxford universities. He specialises in international and economic history and in the history of British and American imperialism, and is known for his controversial — if not provocative — views.
In 2004 he was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. He also has been a contributing editor for Bloomberg Television and a columnist for Newsweek. He married the former Somali-Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali in 2011.
