British Prime Minister David Cameron announced on December 17 that from January 1, jobseekers from elsewhere in the EU will have to wait three months before they can claim out-of-work benefits.

The measure is set to be rushed through Parliament before the end of the year, and is intended to impose a "block on European Union migrants' access to benefits from the politically fraught date when the remaining work restrictions on Romanians and Bulgarians will be lifted in the UK", writes The Guardian.
