Protests denouncing police violence and discrimination against African-Europeans attracted, despite restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, tens of thousands of people in various European cities such as Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Rome, and Barcelona. They were organised following the wave of emotion and demonstrations that resulted from the murder of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man, while being detained by police on May 25th in Minneapolis (United Sates), and marked the adoption in Europe of the US-born slogan “Black Lives Matter”
