‘Constitutional ban on government making civil service redundancies’

On August 29, the Constitutional Court rejected for a third time in a year, a government proposal to reduce the number of civil servants, deeming it inconstitutional.

The proposal was intended to save €167m a year, adds Diário Económico, which believes the Constitutional Court decision will complicate the troika’s eighth review, due to start in September.
