‘The agricultural revolution – UK set to embrace GM’

The UK government is to push the European Union to ease restrictions limiting the use of genetically modified (GM) crops in the human food chain, reports The Independent.

Environment Secretary Owen Paterson is next week due to announce a UK government drive to increase Britain’s cultivation of GM foods, amid growing data to suggest the produce is safe and has the backing of more than 60 per cent of UK farmers.
