More than 500 commandos, as well as helicopters and other US military equipment have arrived at the Novo Selo military base, close to Sliven in the south of the country, ahead of a series of anti-terrorism manoeuvres with Bulgarian special forces.
Bulgarian authorities have pointed out that the training initiative has been planned for some time and “is not in any way related to recent international developments,” reports Sega, which nonetheless notes that Bulgarian public opinion is concerned that the country might find itself drawn into a possible conflict in Syria.
