"Tired of half-hearted reforms and unmet deadlines" the European Commission has decided to put Spain "under strict monitoring", the Spanish daily says. The Commission will present its recommendations on May 29 in Brussels.
European authorities will refrain from using the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) against Spain, but in exchange, the Economic Affairs Commissioner, Ollie Rehn will demand additional reforms on pensions, the labour market and employment policies.
The Commission's recommendations will also focus on budget reform, modernisation of public administrations, speeding up energy sector reforms and de-regulation of services.
