In an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance has announced that he will cooperate with tax authorities in other states.
Luc Frieden insisted that his country, which has come under pressure in the wake of the Cypriot crisis and the Offshore Leaks revelations, “is not a tax haven”. He further pointed out that Luxembourg is attempting to diversify its economy.
Germany, which recently announced that it would petition the EU to introduce measures to combat tax havens, has welcomed the minister’s statement.
