The German government is against the idea of debt relief for Greece and denied that there is a need to modify the bailout programme, a spokesperson for the German Finance Ministry said on August 11, recalling the Eurogroup’s agreement, in 2012, that a new bailout package would be possible once the current plan was completed.
Greece will have to restructure its debt as of 2014 and will need a new bailout package, according to several experts interviewed by German daily Die Welt. This forecast is bolstered by internal Bundesbank documents recently revealed by German weekly Der Spiegel.
