Despite solemn vows of a quick recostruction in the wake of Abruzzo's tragedy, "two months, 302 dead and 65,000 homeless after the quake, the only visible thing is emergency", Il Manifesto complains. Among the victims of this situation, states the communist paper, will be partecipation to european elections. For the 35,000 "quake commuters", already forced to move back and forth between shelters on the adriatic coast and their places of work and residence, voting in the polling stations wrapped up among the ruins will mean serious hardship, adding to disillusion spilling from istitutional indifference. Record abstension is then easily predictable.
