‘Police target of terror’

Two heavily armed men have been killed in an anti-terror police raid in Verviers, in eastern Belgium. Another man has been arrested. The suspects were known jihadists who had returned from Syria last month, said the federal prosecutor, adding that the police wanted to prevent “imminent, large-scale attacks” in Belgium. The police also carried out several house searches in Halle, near Brussels, and in the capital, adds the daily.
