‘US leave ‘unreliable’ British out in the cold’

The US military has excluded their British counterparts from American meetings on how to tackle Syria’s use of chemical weapons against civilians, after UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s government last week voted not to take part in military strikes.

Quoting military sources, The Times reports that

The role of senior British officers based at US Central Command in Tampa, Florida, has been downgraded because they cannot be trusted with high-level intelligence about a conflict with which they are no longer involved.

The decision will be a “severe blow to the pride” of the British Army, with their role taken by the French who have continued to pledge their support to military operations and who were praised by US Secretary of State John Kerry as America’s “oldest ally”.
